Demonstrate understanding of assessment strategies, including informal and formal, diagnostic, formative and summative approaches to assess student learning.

When teaching a unit on what living things we might find in the school yard I used a pre assessment of asking the students to draw what they thought they would find, we then did a variation on the same activity as a post assessment as to what they actually found.
