5.5 Report on student achievement

Demonstrate understanding of a range of strategies for reporting to students and parents/carers and the purpose of keeping accurate and reliable records of student achievement.

I observed the formal reporting process during my second placement, this involved my collecting work samples for my mentor to use in report writing. I have also been involved in parent meetings in which examples of student work were shown to parents.

A crucial part of this process is being able to easily locate the information, I have taken onboard processes that I have observed from mentors and plan to implement similar to the below spelling example across all learning areas.

I have also observed this through work in Education Support and as a parent myself. I have developed strategies through my assignments including rubrics and assessment criteria.

I believe that reporting on student achievement goes beyond the formal reporting process and ties in with standards 1.2  and 3.7 and should take place through timely feedback and informal parent conversations as well.
